The mystery has been solved:
I made it to the beautiful state of California and I got my wonderful trainer. Her name is sister Grant, and believe it or not, we were in the same singles ward during fall semester, and had mutual friends. She grew up with Sister Bennion, and that's who I spent my time with at Utah State!!! ITS A SMALL WORLD. But she is fantastic. We have so much fun and she is fantastic at teaching. I am in the promised land of Morgan Hill. It's a about 30 minutes south from San Jose and its beautiful. Also the weather here is INCREDIBLE. I'm not really sure where to start, but missions are awesome. They are full of a lot of awkward moments, a lot of funny moments, and powerful spiritual experiences. As soon as I got off the plane from Salt Lake, we drove to an Institute building where I saw Elder Weaver from high school, then we went out street talking. Talk about hitting the ground running. It was kinda terrifying but it was GREAT. The first lady we talked to was so kind and accepted a Book of Mormon.
The members are fantastic here and so welcoming. On my second day we had dinner at Mamma Garcia's house. As soon as we sat down she got real close and told me the rules of her house, (they were simple and kind rules) then she told me I had to eat my whole meal with this little kid toy spoon. With a fat pig as the handle... hah we laughed for a while and it took me ages to eat. I guess that's one way of portion control hah. Another sweet lady in the ward is Mamma Smith. (No one likes being called Mrs. Here, so we call everyone mamma) we walked into her house and she was so kind and welcoming. She doesn't have feeling in her hands but she loves to sew. So after I was in her house for a little while she took me into her back room, asked me what my favorite color was and gave me the prettiest blanket in those colors. The blanket that she made!!!! And she can't fill her hands. It was so incredibly kind. And it came with a little homeaid carrying bag and they were beautiful. Then she have us some little treats and cup of noodles for our apartment. It was so kind. I love the people here!!!
I came into the wonderful land of Morgan Hill right after a bunch of families moved, and after a lot of changes. So we spend a lot of our time finding and knocking doors. It's a little intimidating at times but people are very kind even if they don't want to hear a message. I have also grown a real appreciation for pretty door reefs. Haha. But the work is great. Sister Grant is great and we were able to teach some really cool lessons and have some really cool discussions with people on the street. We were visiting with a little family and this massive bug flew down her throat and she played it off so well I had no idea until we were in the car leaving. SHE IS A CHAMP!
My mission president IS AMAZING. He is from Sandy Utah, and his name is president Hunt. Him and his wife are so welcoming and so kind I love them to death. We meet some very high end people here and very successful people. Everyone drives BMWs or Teslas.. ha sister grant and I are in a 2017 Toyota Corolla....talk about high class for missionaries sheesh!
But I love my mission. It honestly is the best. I'm excited to start working this week, and dive into missionary work!! love the people here so much. They are so kind and help me more then they know. I love teaching about the gospel. It makes me so sad that people don't know there is a wonderful God that loves them, and is just waiting for them to accept his help. God is real. God is so good. He has done EVERYTHING for us so we don't have to suffer. He is our Father. So as we go about this week thinking about our wonderful dads, don't forget your father in heaven. Happy father's day to all the dads especially my sweet dad. Love you all. Have a wonderful week. (:
Random Facts: All the fire Hydrants are yellow... there are speed bumps everywhere... and they have a TARANTULA season.. RIP. haha Have a fantastic week everyone!!!!!!
