Happy Holidays!!!♡
it's been another fantastic week! But today I wanna share some random facts:
-Morgan Hill is the mushroom capital of the world (so they say. Haven't actually looked that up) so no matter where you are it smells like manure because that's what mushrooms are grown in. That kinda made my opinions and mushroom change lol.
-California is on fire, which is terribly sad. So the air quality here is unreal. In our little town it has been in the "red-dark red" zone which is "very unhealthy - hazardous for all." So we have been staying in buildings and houses as much as possible and wearing masks.
-Depending on the wind patterns the air quality is equivalent of smoking 1/2 a pack - 2 packs of cigarettes an hour. AN HOUR. So it's kinda crazy and we all sound like smokers.. but it should rain this week. The Lord always provides!!
- We are still biking and enjoying every last bit of warm weather.
-California actually gets cold... hah it has been down in the 40 this whole week. Didn't expect that...(:
-The mission is changing everyone.. starting in December we will no longer be able to eat dinners with members! CRAZY.
Cool People
Well this area is full of incredible people. We have been working with this family for quite a while now and they are AMAZING. They are going to get baptized!! But they are moving in 2 weeks. And the husband just tore his shoulder in 3 places. So that's a bummer. So they will get baptized in their new ward and I couldn't be more happy for them. They have the most wonderful questions and they are so ready. It's crazy how much joy comes from other people finding happiness. That's one reason I love my mission so much. You see people lives completely change. Even though their situations don't, their attitudes do and they experience true happiness.
We ran into this lady named Janet the other day, and while we were telling her where we were from she said that she had recently gone to the Potato museum in Blakcfoot Idaho. Sister Becker and I were so excited because her family is from shelly Idaho (which is like 15 minutes away from the museum) and my family just moved there and are like 5 minutes away!!! Hah she was so excited she gave us hugs, then made copies of all the potato recipes she got from the museum and labeled them "The Idaho Sisters." She is probably the sweetest lady I have met so far. We then taught her the restoration and after we told her the first vision she said "I know this is true." We pointed out what she was feeling was the spirit of God, and he has been waiting a long time for her to hear this message. The spirit was so strong and I love being in the work of Lord.
It's been a great week and I absolutely love being a missionary. It definitely has its ups and downs but I have never been happier. I love this time of year and talking to people about their wonderful holiday traditions. We had a wonderful lesson yesterday in relief society about taking Christ 's name upon you, from Elder Gays talk. There was a comment that a lady made that I absolutely loved. It was, "serve others how they want to be served, not how you want to be served." Because everyone is so different we truly have to get to know those we minister to. I thought that was interesting and kinda goes against the "golden rule." However, when you truly know someone and serve and love them how they like to be served it makes the world of difference. That's how Jesus Chrsit served. According to the needs of his people. I loved that and think it's an awesome quote.:) Happy Thanksgiving I hope you have the best Thanksgiving ever. LOVE YOU.
