So this week was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. I'm not even sure where to start... but so many amazing things have happened.
THEY DID IT...and drug their loved ones to!
Okay, so this week Casey and Michael got baptized!! It was the happiest moment. They have changed so much since we started teaching them, and they have become so happy. The 3 boys now call church home and never want to leave. But their baptism was honestly incredible. One of the biggest miracles of all was that Luis, Casey's Husband, came. He is an atheist that never would join in our lessons, and would always try and prove There wasn't a God. And he said he wouldn't come to the baptism...BUT HE DID. There were a few talks giving by my companion and I, then we got to watch as they made their very first promise with God. They both were just glowing and couldn't stop smiling. The spirit was SO strong in that room. Now for one of the HIGHLIGHTS. As they were getting dressed everyone who came to support them was invited to share their testimony. And THE FIRST PERSON TO GET UP WAS LUIS. CASEY'S ATHEIST(not an atheist for long) HUSBAND. And he got up... told everyone he was an atheist, and didn't plan on joining our church. BUT then he starts talking about how much he loves his family, ended up sobbing in front of everyone about how he wants to be a good father, and his wife and children are a blessing from God. Everyone was in tears it was so powerful. The light in his eyes changed from the moment he got up, to the moment he sat down. THEN we had some recent converts get up and tell this wonderful family how much the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints has completely transformed their homes and relationships. Then one lady says, "It might not be your time now luis, but this is the Lord's church, and when it is your time we will welcome you with open arms." Then they welcomed Casey, Luis and their boys into the church with open arms and smiles, excepting and loving them for who they are. It was so powerful. Then to top it all off Luis surprised his family by coming to their confirmation on Sunday. It was the first time he's been in a church for a LONG time. It's been an incredible week.
We legit saved a life...
So miracle moment, sister Folkman and I were running appointment to appointment, and we remembered this partner said we could go visit. Well the spirit reminded us, but we knocked on her door, and she didn't answer for a while, so randomly we ran through the rest of our schedule on her porch, and after a good like 4 minutes the door cracks open and we heard her say help!! So we ran in and she had taken a nap, and her blood sugar crashed and she was like almost in a coma. So I went into full on medical mode, ha and we ended up making her food, and helping her get her blood sugar up. We were super grateful the spirit reminded us, because her husband wouldn't have been home for 4 hours. God's always looking out for his children!:)
An INSANE EXCHANGE......
Haha so this week I went on exchanges with Sister Zieber and she is from Mississippi and She is the sweetest thing in the world. We are on bikes in the POURING rain. Haha we laughed the entire time and were soaked. We ended up biking 20 miles lol we were exhausted. But the best part.. was when we went to teach this lady Maria, and she didn't speak any English. So she started speaking to me.... And I had no idea what she was saying, but she seemed super passionate lol then Sister Zeiber kept shaking her head and saying, "NO IT'S OKAY" in Spanish, very politely of course. Haha and she gets up and gets a bowl and this massive spoon and started digging in this jug that's been sitting on her counter for ages. Haha and she pulls out this chicken foot and hands it to me. Hah so cool news, I ate chicken feet. Lol it was not the most pleasant thing in the world, haha but it just tasted like vinegar, onion, like fat rubber. Ha that's the best way to explain it! Kinda nasty hah
Last HIGHLIGHT
We have been teaching the cutest girl named Verannika, and we have been working with her for ages, she comes to church and all the activities and calls herself a member, But she hasn't been baptized yet and is doing everything she needs to, she just isn't receiving all the blessings yet. We have invited her to be baptized so many times but her mom just passed away and her grandma asked her to wait. BUT yesterday we were visiting her and she asked her grandma again, because this is something she really wants, AND SHE IS GETTING BAPTIZED NEXT SATURDAY. We were so shocked and so excited happy tears were defiantly shed!! It was the best week!!!
It's been a solid week. A scripture that caught my attention this week. 2 Nephi 28:32 "Wo be unto the Gentiles, saith the Lord God of Hosts! For notwithstanding I shall lengthen out mine arm unto them from day to day, they will deny me; nevertheless, I will be merciful unto them, saith the Lord God, if they will repent and come unto me; for mine arm is lengthened out all the day long, saith the Lord God of Hosts."
I love this because the whole chapter talks about all the destruction and crazy things that will happen to the world, and the wickedness of the people. However the Lord says multiple times that his arm is out stretched toward us, it doesn't matter how many times we mess up, or the weaknesses we have, if we try to follow Christ, we try to do our best, and we reach for his outstretched arm, we will be saved. But we have to try. I love my Savior, and im grateful for his mercy and his love. Have the best week.
