It's been an amazing week. We had transfers last week and unfortunately Sister Ferrell and I had to depart ways. My new companions name is Sister Simili-solofa. She is from America Samoa and is one of the sweetest people in the world. I love her so much. She is a convert to the church and has a testimony of GOLD.
Little snippets of this week:
- We had to clean an elders Apartment that had been thrashed for 10 years.. we cleaned for a total of 16 hours strait to get the filth removed. Ha then the new sisters moved in... mission accomplished. There was some mighty transformations and Gospel tie ins hah. #missionarymindset
- Went to a lesson at the park with a returning member, he brought us homemade hot soup, and dessert in a cooler. That's was a solid lesson!
- Sister Solofa and I were biking and saw this man walking, I had the strongest impression to talk to him, so we turned our bikes around and started to chat with him, his names Benjamin he is looking for a church and "wants to find a church like ours." So we invited him to join and hes super cool.
- Pingping. This wonderful Gal is from China. She is touring the US, has ran into 5 different missionaries in the past two days, and wants to be baptized. We had the most powerful lesson and spiritual experiences. Anyways she leaves to new York tomorrow so we are going to teach her long distance until she gets baptized in new York.
We are seeing so many miracles. I have been reunited with one of my past companions Sister Folkman. She now lives in our apartment. It has been the one of the best weeks. Lots of laughs, lots of miracles.
One of the analogies from cleaning this week....
While we were scrubbing the terribly abandoned and neglected apartment it was very apparent that if those previously living in the apartment would have done simple little things over time, the apartment could have been saved from all the tarnish and buildup that naturally happens over time. Simply sweeping, or wiping the counters or throwing away 10 year old cans of food could make one of the biggest difference in this sweet apartments life story. While we were cleaning inward thinking about how we often times do this to ourselves. We neglect the simple little things that make the biggest difference.
Alma 37:6
6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
The small and simple things like wiping the counters, sweeping the floors or rinsing the shower save the buildup of filth in the apartment. Just like scripture study, prayer, attending church, and repenting save our souls from the build up of tarnish and filth of the world. As we do simple housekeeping activities daily physically and spiritually we find ourselves in a better position to feel of the spirit of the lord. I love how the Son of God is the light of the world. His love peace and joy is compared to the brightness of the Sun. That is not a coincidence. Let's all commit to clean the tarnish off our souls, and let the light of our savior feel our hearts with joy and peace. I love you. I love being a missionary. Spread the light of the lord wherever you go!
